Our family business was founded in 1980. Since then, we have always worked to keep our customers’ houses as warm as possible. In recent years, the thickness recommended for attic floors has risen sharply and appropriately. If your attic was last insulated before 2011, you may now require a substantial top-up of insulation to meet today’s recommendations. We recognize more and more requests for flooring for storage purposes in attics.

Sometimes a floor is raised just 4 inches higher than the existing joists (leaving an 8-inch gap for 12 inches of insulation or the rigid insulation fitted on top does not give you the equivalent of a 300mm loft roll.

We fit raised flooring not only to maintain as much space as possible for your future storage needs but we fit it high enough where possible to avoid compression to the insulation immediately underneath. Any compression of mineral wool insulation reduces the thermal resistance value.

We encounter many attics where flooring is in place that impedes the fitting of new loft insulation or compresses the insulation. Thankfully, we can solve this for you quite efficiently and economically in most cases.
